Thomas Tuchel's Perfectionist Approach: England Boss Calls for Key Improvements Despite Win Over Albania

 

Thomas Tuchel’s reign as England manager began with a solid 2-0 victory over Albania in their World Cup qualifying match on Friday at Wembley, but the new boss is already pointing to areas for improvement as he aims for perfection.

In his debut game in charge, Tuchel watched as Arsenal’s rising star Myles Lewis-Skelly marked his Three Lions debut with a goal, followed by Harry Kane’s second-half strike to seal the win. Despite the comfortable result, Tuchel made it clear that he wasn’t entirely satisfied with the performance.

While England emerged victorious, the German coach identified lapses in discipline and structure, particularly in the second half. "We wanted to increase the rhythm and the risk a little bit in the second half. We had one more player in the offensive line, but I felt we weren’t disciplined enough. We tried too much on our own, out of position, and that slowed the game down. We weren’t well-organized to control the counterattacks," Tuchel explained post-match.

Despite facing some criticism on social media, with some fans suggesting England played more entertaining football under former boss Gareth Southgate, Tuchel is focused on fine-tuning his team. “The second goal secured the win, and from there, we managed to see the game out," Tuchel added.

Looking ahead, Tuchel's England will aim to build on this win when they take on Latvia in their next World Cup qualifying match on Monday. With a perfect start to his tenure, the German manager’s attention to detail could be key to bringing more success to the Three Lions.
