Nigeria’s dynamic attacking duo, Ademola Lookman and Samuel Chukwueze, have earned recognition for their impressive dribbling skills, securing spots among the top 50 dribblers in Italy’s Serie A for the 2024/25 season.
According to recent statistics from Euro Football Rumours, Lookman and Chukwueze are the only Nigerian internationals to feature in the prestigious list, which ranks players based on the number of successful dribbles completed in Italy’s top-flight league.
Leading the charge for Nigeria, Atalanta's Ademola Lookman has been a standout performer, ranking 22nd overall in Serie A with 27 dribbles from 23 league appearances. That’s an average of 1.2 dribbles per game impressive for the 25-year-old winger. But it’s not just about flair for Lookman; his numbers show he's much more than just a dribbler. With 13 goals and 5 assists, Lookman has been one of Serie A’s most influential attackers this season, further cementing his reputation as one of the league’s top performers.
Meanwhile, AC Milan's Samuel Chukwueze ranks 40th on the dribbling list with 20 successful dribbles. What stands out, however, is his impressive dribbling efficiency despite playing fewer minutes. Chukwueze, who has clocked only 796 minutes in 21 Serie A matches, averaging just 2.2 dribbles per 90 minutes, is making a strong impact whenever he’s on the pitch. However, his limited game time has affected his overall contributions, with Chukwueze managing just three goals in Serie A so far.
Despite their differing club situations, both Lookman and Chukwueze have been key players for Nigeria and are expected to play pivotal roles in the Super Eagles' upcoming World Cup qualifiers. They’ve been included in Nigeria’s squad for the upcoming matches against Rwanda and Zimbabwe, with Lookman likely to be a guaranteed starter due to his sensational club form.
The full list of Serie A’s top dribblers is topped by Como’s Nico Paz with an impressive 57 dribbles, followed by AC Milan’s Rafael Leão (50), Venezia’s Gaetano Oristanio (48), Juventus’ Kenan Yildiz (45), and Lazio’s Nuno Tavares (44).
As Nigeria gears up for their March 21st clash with Rwanda and a showdown against Zimbabwe, Lookman’s impressive dribbling and goal-scoring form make him a major asset for coach Eric Chelle’s squad. Chukwueze, despite his struggles for consistent starting minutes at Milan, will also be hoping to prove himself on the international stage as he aims to reclaim his spot in the Super Eagles' starting lineup.
