Juventus FC has officially parted ways with Thiago Motta, relieving him of his duties as head coach of the Men’s First Team. In a statement released on Sunday, the club thanked Motta and his staff for their dedication and professionalism during their time at the helm, but it’s clear that the recent string of disappointing results led to this decision.
“Juventus FC announce that Thiago Motta has been relieved of his duties as Men’s First Team coach,” the club said. “The club would like to thank Thiago Motta and all of his staff for their professionalism and for the work they have carried out in recent months with passion and dedication. The club wishes them the best of luck for the future.”
As the search for a new leader begins, Juventus has wasted no time in naming Motta’s successor. Former player and assistant coach Igor Tudor has been appointed as the new head coach and will lead his first training session on Monday, March 24.
Tudor’s appointment follows a series of poor performances under Motta, including crushing defeats like the 4-0 home loss to Atalanta, which marked Juventus' worst home defeat since 1967. These results have left Juventus in fifth place in Serie A, casting doubt on their qualification for next season’s UEFA Champions League.
Tudor, who has prior managerial experience with teams such as Marseille and Lazio, returns to Turin with the primary goal of stabilizing the team’s form. His contract is set until June 30, with the possibility of an extension depending on his success in turning the team’s fortunes around.
Juventus fans are hoping that Tudor’s arrival will bring much-needed consistency and lift the club back into contention for European competition, but the pressure is on as the club fights to avoid another season of underachievement.
