Harry Kane has shared his excitement following England’s 2-0 win over Albania, their first match under new manager Thomas Tuchel. Despite the victory, Kane revealed that Tuchel wasn’t completely satisfied, leaving fans eager to see how the team will evolve under his leadership.
In a game that saw Kane score his landmark 70th international goal and Myles Lewis-Skelly impress on debut, Tuchel’s tactical influence was evident
but the performance left room for improvement. Kane highlighted that while Albania posed a tough challenge, England showed flashes of brilliance, particularly with their counter-pressing.
"We were a bit slow with some of our passes and didn’t quite find our usual rhythm with the ball," Kane admitted. "But there were positive signs, and the energy in training has been at a high level. It's an exciting start to what will be a long year as we build towards the World Cup in the USA."
Kane, who has been a cornerstone of England's attack for nearly a decade, also spoke out about recent reports claiming he felt "underappreciated" despite his remarkable record. "I’m really happy," he clarified. "That was taken out of context. I’ve always felt appreciated by the fans and love playing for England. It’s been nearly ten years since my debut, and I enjoy it just as much now."
With 70 goals to his name, Kane is clearly aiming for even more. "It’s a great achievement, but there’s still plenty more to come," he said, as England’s journey under Tuchel begins on a positive note.
